Jimmy Castor Bunch:

Jimmy Castor (born June 23, 1947 in New York) is an American pop and funk musician. He is best known as a fun disco/funk saxophonist, with his biggest hit single being 1972's million seller, "Troglodyte (Cave Man)".

Career

Castor started as a doo-wop singer in New York. He wrote and recorded "I Promise to Remember" in 1956. Castor then replaced Frankie Lymon in The Teenagers in 1957 before switching to the saxophone in 1960. He had a solo hit with "Hey Leroy, Your Mama's Callin' You" on Smash Records in 1966. Castor also played sax on Dave "Baby" Cortez's hit "Rinky Dink." He formed the Jimmy Castor Bunch in 1972 and signed with RCA.

As leader of The Jimmy Castor Bunch in the 1970s, and also as a solo artist, he has released several successful albums and singles. The group reached the peak of their commercial success in 1972 with the release of their album, It's Just Begun, which featured two hit singles: the title track and "Troglodyte (Cave Man)," which was a large hit in the U.S., peaking at #6 in the Billboard Hot 100. The track stayed in the chart for 14 weeks and was a million seller by 30 June 1972, and received a gold disc award from the R.I.A.A.

Michael Night, “The New York Cowboy” was born in Brooklyn, New York. He moved to Queens New York at the age of five and has lived there since. Michael was first introduced to country music on the trips that his North Carolina born Dad used to take him on to visit his Grandparents farm. Michael always loved the country, the country accents and the music. “It sounds like music when country folks talk,” Night commented. Michael’s mom’s parents also had a farm out in the Hamptons in Long Island, NY, so farm life was no stranger to little Michael. Michael recalls “I’ve been singing as long as I can remember. In choruses, in school, in glee clubs and just singing to the radio…you just couldn’t shut me up! I love to sing!” exclaims Night. Michael studied piano and guitar to fine tune his songwriting skills and enhance his trade. Being inspired by folks like Vince Gill, Kenny Rogers and the one and only Charlie Pride, Michael has been working on his own special style of country music. Michael has performed at the home of 50 Cent alongside of Patti Labelle, The Temptations and Ben E King, singing his special version of his love song “The Letter” for the wedding anniversary of 50 Cent’s grandparents. His first CD “I Sing Country Too” and his tribute song “Free At Last” were done with services rendered by none other than Nashville’s own Jonell Polansky, publisher and producer of Tim McGraw’s triple platinum song “Ticking Away.” Michael’s music also caught the ears of Europe’s first divorce photographer Monica Fassmer, who flew in to New York to shoot a video for divorced women with Michael, using his love song “Waiting With A Ring” as the theme song. I just wanted to let everyone that the young lady that died

in the crash on the belt pkwy was my sister.

Her name was Unique Venus King she just turned 21 on thurs 12/15..

.she always kept you laughing no matter how upset u were.

she didn't deserve to die like this...no one does...

she was in the middle seat in the back on the phone...

everyone in the car was telling the driver to slow down...

he chose not to listen and my sister death occurred

with the car landing on her...good samaritans â

€‚passing on the belt pkwy tried their best to help her but fell short...

she died at the scene of the accident...my sister unique will be forever missed <3

Black poets used their words to protest against slavery, racism, injustice and sexuality. Here are the poets that spearheaded public opposition against issues facing Black Americans. Phillis Wheatley was the first African-American to have her poetry published. One of her works titled On Being Brought from Africa to America, discussed slaves relationships with God and their ideas of religion. Langston Hughes outwardly opposed racial injustice between Blacks and Whites in America. His works influenced the Harlem Renaissance, which encouraged liberal Black art. Sellars, well known for his radical reinterpretations of classic plays and operas, took up the challenge and mounted a production of Shakespeare's tragedy in New York in 2009. Young activism takes root in Harlem - New York Amsterdam News: Black New Yorker: Victoria Pannell is 12 years old, was born and raised in Harlem and is just beginning the seventh grade. She is passionate about writing and says, "I usually choose a moment in history that interests me and rewrite it in the way I want to." When she isn't writing, she practices martial arts and hangs out with her friends after school. At first glance, she is just like any other kid her age. Who would guess that this young girl is an activist? Unlike most others her age, this girl has a strong and active commitment to her community. Indeed, only knee-high to a grasshopper, she is the director of the Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network Youth Division and wants to change the "no snitching" mantra to one that is more open and helpful to the community. Pannell's sense of commitment and solidarity with her community comes naturally as she grew up with the Black activist movement. She said, "Because my parents are involved in the Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network, I've had the occasion to assist in rallies since I was a child. I had no way to escape being engaged in an activist movement, but I think it's a good thing."

One of the most powerful chapters in the film The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975, involves a jailhouse interview with activist Angela Davis. In her full-blown afro and 1970s-style she's visibly frustrated as she tells a Swedish television interviewer why some black people had chosen to take up arms in the face of police harassment and racism. In her own words she explains how her family was terrorized by bombings in the south. It's a strong, stirring moment brought to us in living color, and one of the things that makes Black Power Mixtape an important movie about, not only black history, but world history. The film has already appeared at this year's Cannes Film Festival. A judge ruled Monday there was enough evidence to try three men and one woman in connection with the crime. The defendants are white and Hispanic and are to be arraigned Sept. 28 on arson, conspiracy and hate crime charges. her until my flight that day to come

back to NYC..lol.. Darlenelya tried her hardest

to get me to the airport..

Missed my flight..

they tried to get me to go back

with them..where I stayed n

the terminal all night..until next morning

at 6am, they woke me up.

Apparently, these women are everywhere, hence article after article dissecting why they're all single and what they need to do i n order to avoid -- gasp -- dying alone. They seem to need books, too. By now you would imagine that given both black women and black men -- of varying ages, classes, sexual orientations, and levels of intellect -- have chimed in with their own largely unsolicited advice on the matter that we could collectively move on, or at the very least, elevate the conversation. How race has put Strauss-Kahn's accuser on trial: "In my professional opinion as a former attorney who has had to evaluate evidence, the credibility of witnesses, and whether or not to settle a case or drop it, let me say that I find Ms. Diallo's rape allegations against Mr. Dominique Strauss-Kahn very credible and worthy of prosecution. The 800 lb elephant in the room, however, is the issue of her race and status and how that may impact the prosecution's decision to go forward or not. There is also the venue issue whether or not such a trail would take place in Manhattan or in the Bronx where she might find a more sympathetic jury. Settled in the 1820s, Seneca Village was a mostly black community of 260 residents, comprised of working- and middle-class property owners, the New York Times explains. It stretched from 82nd to 89th streets, between what were then Seventh and Eighth avenues. The community has been a subject of fascination and scholarly study for the Institute for the Exploration of Seneca Village History, a consortium of three professors from City College, Barnard College and New York University. After winning permission from the city eight weeks ago to excavate in an area of the park near 85th Street and Central Park West, the group has steadily been uncovering a wealth of material not discovered in previous borings, the New York Times reports. This dig, which will end on Friday, has already turned up 250 bags of items. Wednesday alleging that a building

used for after-hours parties violates land-use restrictions. The city says Darkside in the 3000 block of West

Northwest Highway near Webb Chapel

Extension is a 'drug-infested, after-hours' club. Dallas said the owner, Glen Hudson,

told city officials that his establishment

was a 'religious organization exempt from

the city's land-use regulations.' Hudson said he is

an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church, the city said. The Universal Life Church says on its website that it has

ordained more than 20 million people worldwide.

It offers 'free online ordination' by filling out a quick online form. The city had received reports of late-night parties

at Darkside. The location does not have

a permit to operate as a dance club. 'Our first concern was that someone might be using the

that care about... invoking that type of forum to cover

illegal and otherwise disturbing activity,' said

HIV Positive Man Allegedly Rapes His 6-Month Old Son: "HIV Positive Man Allegedly Rapes His 6-Month Old Son July 4, 2011 By Staff View Comments A man in Ohio has been arrested for raping his son, who was six months old, according to police. Lenny Love, 29-years old, allegedly assaulted the child knowing that he was HIV positive. Love is being charged by the police in Silverton, Ohio with two counts of rape, one count of felonious assault and one count of marijuana possession. Love has reportedly confessed to the crime and is set to be arraigned on Monday. There are no reports as to whether Love was on drugs or not during the assault, or has a history of mental problems. Many sexual assaults on children take place when the accused is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Chris Nelloms, a former track star at The Ohio State University, was given 40-to-life for assaulting a girl in his care while under the influence of alcohol. In 2009, another man was given 45 years in prison for sleeping with a woman knowing that he had HIV."
