How race has put Strauss-Kahn's accuser on trial:
"In my professional opinion as a former attorney who has had to evaluate evidence,
the credibility of witnesses, and whether or not to settle a case or drop it, let me say
that I find Ms. Diallo's rape allegations against Mr. Dominique Strauss-Kahn very credible
and worthy of prosecution.
The 800 lb elephant in the room, however, is the issue of her race and status and how
that may impact the prosecution's decision to go forward or not. There is also the venue
issue whether or not such a trail would take place in Manhattan or in the Bronx where
she might find a more sympathetic jury. This is a classic, and tragic case where the victim
(a woman of color and immigrant status) has already been deemed 'suspect' with regard to
her allegations, and her past associations and veracity (truth-telling) as the star witness for
the prosecution because of her low socio-economic status. It is a case of David versus Goliath:
The alleged perpetrator is a world renowned financial leader, a potential candidate for the
presidency of France, his wife is a wealthy socialite, and he has friends in high places who
will do anything to see him exonerated of these damaging allegations. The victim on the other
hand is an immigrant from Guinea (who ironically sought asylum here in the U.S. because
she claimed to have been gang raped in Guinea), a domestic, who resides in the Bronx.
The power imbalance here is enormous, but the facts deserve our attention and action.
As far as I can tell the circumstantial evidence against Kahn is enormous. Diallo alleges he
startled her naked upon entering his room to clean up, then assaulted her, and ultimately
brutally forced her to perform oral sex on him."

"Barack Obama
Quote of the day: “My concern right now—my singular focus—is the American people.
Getting the unemployed back on the job, lifting their wages. Rebuilding that sense of
security the middle class has felt slipping away for years. And helping them recover
fully, as families and as communities, from the worst recession that any of us have ever seen.

"Folks, If you have not noticed...
few Presidents have ever worked this hard for our country,
having to deal with such hatred and ill-will. Many wonder,
does he ever sleep? Only God can sustain such energy, knowledge and person..
Will you please join in this prayer?
Let's keep this going!
Lord,
We pray for optimum health, mental clarity
and political prosperity for President Barack H. Obama
. We pray that what he lacks in political 'experience'
you make up for with supernatural wisdom and power.
We also pray that when his enemies come upon him they
will stumble and fall; and that your love will fill
his heart to the end that 'Your will' be done through him.
We pray mightily for his protection. As we plead the
Blood of your son, Jesus, over him and his family.
We reverently ask you to dispatch legions of angels to
protect him from all hurt, harm, danger as he serves
as the President of the United States of America .
We thank you and praise you for answering our

13-year-old girl Kira Goddard dies a hero as she saves friends from out-of-control SUV The New York City Local - Yahoo! News:
"A 13-year-old Brooklyn girl died a hero after
shooing other kids out of the way of an SUV - driven by a mortally wounded ex-con -
before it crushed her, police and witnesses said Sunday. Kira Goddard shouted a warning moments before the Range Rover crashed
in front of her Brownsville home, neighbors said.
The decimated Range Rover (Goldfield/NYDN)'She saved them all,' said Lyn Joseph,
36. 'She said, 'Run, run,' to all the other kids, because she saw the car coming. And when she went to move out of the
way it was too late.'
Sean Lewis, who had a stab wound to the torso
, was driving the SUV west on Pacific St. when it hit three double-parked cars near Saratoga
Ave. about 10:10 p.m. Saturday, cops said. He backed up, hit a parked car and flipped his vehicle. The SUV pinned Kira onto the front steps
of her apartment building. She died at the scene.
'She always told me she loved me,' said Kira's devastated father, Wesley Bishop, 59, a
construction worker. 'She last called me to make sure I took my medication - my [blood] pressure pills. She always did.'
Kira Goddard, 13 (Photo supplied by family)Kira often
took care of younger kids on the block, neighbors said. Lewis, 44, was rushed to
Brookdale University Hospital with head injuries in addition to the stab wound, but could not be saved, officials said.
Police are investigating when and how Lewis was stabbed. The city medical examiner will determine his cause of death.
Kira's neighbors said Lewis, who lived in
Bedford-Stuyvesant, was hanging out at a barbecue..

Researchers unearth remants of black village at Central Park
Researchers unearth remants of black village at Central Park:
"By Kameko Jones, NBC New York & Ollie Montgomery, theGrio
The remnants of an entire black community pushed out by the creation of Central Park in the
1850s are being given new life thanks to a team of anthropologists and historians who have been
busy digging up the items for the past eight weeks. Settled in the 1820s, Seneca Village was a
mostly black community of 260 residents, comprised of working- and middle-class property owners,
the New York Times explains. It stretched from 82nd to 89th streets, between what were then
Seventh and Eighth avenues. The community has been a subject of fascination and scholarly
study for the Institute for the Exploration of Seneca Village History, a consortium of three professors
from City College, Barnard College and New York University. After winning permission from the city
eight weeks ago to excavate in an area of the park near 85th Street and Central Park West, the group
has steadily been uncovering a wealth of material not discovered in previous borings, the New York Times
reports. This dig, which will end on Friday, has already turned up 250 bags of items. Anthropology college
students interning with the consortium told the Times of some more moving, powerful finds --
things like a leather and fabric shoe, clay pipes, bones from animals that had been butchered."
