Lost to history due to landfill and development, the grounds were rediscovered in 1991 as a consequence of the planned construction of a Federal office building."

Ground National Monument's new visitor center, which opens to the public at 1:30 p.m. on February 27, 2010. The Visitor Center will be open to the public on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 28
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Visitor Center's admission is free
